HTTP status codes

What does this status code actually mean?

The codes worth knowing, each with the header it must be sent with. The confusion is the obligation, not the number: a 429 without Retry-After.

401 Unauthorized The server is blaming the request. Means unauthenticated; needs a WWW-Authenticate header.
  • 401 means unauthenticated; needs a WWW-Authenticate header Unauthorized

how to use it

  1. Type the code, or a word from its name.
  2. Read the meaning and, where there is one, the header the code obliges.
  3. The family row says whose fault the response is claiming it is.

what this page cannot do

The extension reads the statuses a live page's own requests came back with, in order, so a 302 chain or a background 401 is found rather than looked up.
